Rockwall Art League announces 21st annual fine arts fair, October 15-17 – Blue Ribbon News

ROCKWALL, TX (September 10, 2021) Rockwall Art League is delighted to announce its 21st Annual Fine Arts Fair, which will open at noon on Friday October 15 and run through Sunday October 17. Once again, the show will take place in the community hall of the Rockwall Golf and Athletic Club, located in Les rives at 2600 Champion Drive.

Show hours are noon to 7 p.m. on Friday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday; and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, with an awards ceremony and an artists’ reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Admission is free and the show is open to the public. With respect to the current concerns about COVID-`19, the RAL will follow the safety precautions prescribed by the County of Rockwall. For those taking extra precautions, the show will also be hosted virtually at

This year’s judges include Annie foster, artist teacher at the Creative Art Center in Dallas and member of the Nasher Sculpture Center Education Board and St. Mathew’s Cathedral Arts Guild; Kay wyne, an award-winning artist whose works have been featured in numerous magazines, including Dallas Business Journal, Western art collector, Southwestern Art, American art collector, Outdoors, and Riding review; and Rockwall Mayor Kevin Fowler, longtime patron.

There will be seven categories of works of art on display: oil, watercolor, acrylic, photography / digital art, drawing, sculpture and mixed media. This year, $ 2,700 in prizes will be awarded to the winning artists. Prices include Best of Show ($ 500); 1st place in each category ($ 200); 2sd place in each category ($ 100); and of course, the coveted People’s Choice Award ($ 100) – which represents your opportunity to bypass the judges and have your voice heard by voting for the play you find most inspiring.

RAL has been promoting the fine arts in our community for over two decades. Founded in 1999, RAL serves local artists and Rockwall residents by organizing community art exhibition opportunities, hosting artist demonstrations, promoting workshops, funding scholarships and endowing the ArtReach program.

Each year, RAL awards the Tom Collins scholarship to a high school graduate pursuing a degree in art at the university. For more information on this scholarship and instructions on how to apply, visit

Additionally, RAL members have worked with adults with mental, emotional or physical disabilities through ArtReach since its inception in 2012. Art as therapy is a proven way to develop creative expression and promote healing. A selection of works of art from the ArtReach program will be on display at the Fine Art Show.
