Benz Gallery in London is going from a virtual debut to a live opening celebration, including a reception on Friday, with its exhibition of new work from its entire roster of artists from across the country.

Entitled The Shift, the exhibition runs until October 8.

“Each artist will include two to five new works in all styles and mediums, from landscapes to abstracts, ceramics and sculpture,” said owner and artist Greg Benz.

“It’s been a year since we opened the doors and we see this show as a kind of inauguration and a year anniversary. With the opening during lockdown last year, many people have yet to visit us. We welcome everyone to the gallery to celebrate our first year.

A wide variety of landscape work is included in the show, Benz said, “showing all the incredible styles and shapes of this genre.” Exhibiting artists include Wendy Bermingham and Chris Masoure from Toronto, Fiona Dalrymple from Vancouver and Michaela Hoppe from Saskatchewan.

Abstract artists include Amy Stewart of Vancouver, Lise Leroux of Quebec and Lori Mirabelli, Joanna Gresik, Lisa Roy and Florence Solis, all of Toronto.

The exhibition will also feature new ceramic and sculpture works by Lesley Mcinally, Daumante Stirbyte, Heather Smit, Michelle Mendlowitz, Richard Sturgeon and George Whitney.

To complete the show, local painters offer landscapes and abstract works by Shane Norrie, Jamie Jardine, Bryan Jesney, Dan Tamborro and Sarah Kane as well as Benz.
