Obituary of Andre Mitchell (1972 – 2021) – PORT ALLEN, LA

Andre Joseph Mitchell, 48, passed away suddenly on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Sharp Medical Center in San Diego, California. He was born on December 13, 1972 to Bobby and Josephine Peters Mitchell. He was originally from New Orleans, LA, a graduate of Clifton L. Ganus High School (C / O 1991). While in high school, he was recruited to join the United States Navy through the Delayed Entry Program (DEP). He served in the Navy (1991-2011) in San Diego, California. His specialties were the 3601 Lithographic Equipment Repairer, NEC-001 Lithographer, MC Mass Communication Specialist and MC1 (SW / AW) Production Manager of Naval Special Warfare in Media and Communications. André won a plethora of medals, ribbons and decorations. Immediately before his retirement, Andre coached basketball from 2010 to 2017. He coached the youth group through the YMCA, junior college and the Sweetwater Union High School District in San Diego, California. After his retirement, André was eager to follow in his father’s footsteps by working in the field of outsourcing. He has developed skills in carpentry, flooring, installation of electrical appliances and various DIY tasks. In his spare time, he enjoyed flying planes and drones remotely, chatting in groups, and visiting a close circle of friends. André liked to meet and chat with people.
Andre is predeceased by his infant son, Devan Lavell Mitchell; grandparents, Robert and Gustavia Ratcliff, Dorothy and Chris A. Mitchell Sr., and Thomas R. and Edith Peters; 3 uncles, Chris A. Mitchell, Jr, Thomas Peters, Jr, and Rodney R. Thomas; and aunt, Roslyn Peters Mitchell Thomas. He lets his memories cherish his 2 daughters, Zana Alandra Mitchell and Kiyara Briche ‘Mitchell; granddaughter, Alaya Mitchell; parents, Josephine and Bobby Mitchell; 14-year-old life partner Juanita Wallace McCoy; acquired children, Victoria and Stefan Williams, Korrina and Caitlyn McCoy; and granddaughters, Kyra and Shyla Sabazz; brothers, Chris A. Mitchell (Ceedie) and Sean T. Mitchell; nieces, Markia Cole and Chrisean Mitchell; nephew, Chris A. Mitchell; Mitchell family aunts and uncles, Gloria Davis Mitchell, Joycelyn M. Jones, Ana M. Duplessis, Silvia M. Lindsay, Elwood Mitchell (Janet), Earl Mitchell (Shelia), Rev. Elize Mitchell (Darlene) and Charles Mitchell (Sandra); the aunts and uncles of the Peters family, Edith Marie P. Gardner (Darryl), Janet Mitchell (Elwood), Pastor Troy Peters (Ellarie) and Travis A. Relatives and family friends are all welcome to attend his Celebration of Life service on Monday, November 22, 2021, 10:00 am, at Professional Funeral Services, 1449 N. Claiborne Ave, NOLA. Visits will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Slidell, LA.
